Bishop Nyaboho presides over the Makamba Diocese, which is one of five dioceses in the Province of the Anglican Church of Burundi. Makamba Diocese has 165,000 members, 18 parishes, 152 local congregations, 22 priests and 152 evangelists.
Claire HategekimanaClaire Hategekimana
Mrs. Hategekimana is a nurse by profession. After her studies she worked in Makamba Hospital from 1994-2004. Since April 2004, she has headed the “Fighting Against HIV/AIDS Department” in the Diocese. She serves as treasurer of UCE and three other associations within the Diocese. She is coordinator of 8 groups that fight HIV/AIDS. She holds certificates as a trainer in Counseling/Gender/Development and in HIV/AIDS. She is an active member in Mother’s Union. Her first marriage in March 1996 ended only weeks later on 3rd April, when her husband was shot during the civil war and died. Eight years later, in 2004 she remarried Desire Niyongabo and they are blessed with two daughters (one with her first husband and the second one with Desire). Her eight years of singleness after the death of her husband enable her to convince others what abstinence means.
Hermes GatotoHermes Gatoto
Rev. Gatato is a graduate of Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono, Uganda with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. Before enrolling in UCU, he had finished Humanity studies and three years in Matana Theological Institute (Burundi). While still a UCU undergraduate, he participated in UCE outreaches events in Gerenge-Kampala with UCU students. He holds certificates in Trauma Healing, Counseling in HIV/AIDS and Mine Risk Education. As a Diocesan Secretary, Provost, UCE team member, and due to his experience in UCE outreaches in Uganda, he is well-qualified to encourage people in abstinence.
Annonciate KwizeraAnnonciate Kwizera
Mrs. Kwizera was born in December 1963 and is married to Colonel Rukundo Manasseh. She is a mother of one teenager Florice Ngabirano. She is a teacher by profession. From 1985-2001 she worked in different areas around the country. In April 2004 she was appointed as Mothers’ Union Worker in the Diocese. In addition to this, she heads three associations within the Diocese. She also holds certificates in Gender and Development, Pacific Conflict Resolution, Trauma Healing and Reconciliation, Counseling and Mine Risk Education. She visited UCE Uganda and attended many UCE outreaches. Her professional teaching skills and her experience with UCE Uganda enable her to educate youth for abstinence.
Charles NiyungekoCharles Niyungeko
Rev. Niyungeko is a teacher by profession. After six years in his career, he joined the pastoral ministry. He went through theological studies in Matana (Burundi) and to Carlile College (Kenya) where he got a certificate in Youth Studies. The Diocese appointed him as a Youth leader. He is married to Ciza Moza and they are blessed with three children. His experience in education will enable him to win many hearts of the youths for abstinence.
