Coloradans take time to pray for World AIDS Day

Pueblo, CO, December 1st, 2012:

Nearly 100 people from 10 churches came together this World AIDS Day to pray and fellowship on World AIDS Day. The evening was hosted by Universal Chastity Education and Christ the King Catholic Church, and began with an agape meal led by Rev. Brad Munroe of First Presbyterian Church. Tables were set in the shape of a cross to remind participants of the sacrifice Jesus made for us, and that in Him there is hope. Attendees ate simple foods such as grapes, cheese, bread, and water, as the first churches would have done at their agape meals.

Then, soup was served, and the tables engaged in conversations about biblical scripture, which were led by the youth from Christ the King FROGS youth group.

Following this, Andrew Dernovsek, the UCE Executived Director recounted his experience as a Peace Corps HIV/AIDS volunteer in Africa in his talk, “Hope through Chastity.” (you can see the full pdf here). A candle light procession into the church was followed by prayers led by Rev. Eric Goldy, Community of Acts Anglican Mission.Monsignor Tom Adrians of Christ the King opened the all-night vigil, and more than 70 people entered during the night to pray.
