UCE school shows pregnancy rate decline as UCE Sports Clubs launched

By Walubo Jude Tadeo, Kasese, Uganda, (March 2013)- It has been our privilege this past month to continue to serve our Lord through Universal Chastity Education outreaches. Our goal in this ministry has been twofold: helping people healthy lives through chastity, and to encourage them to reach out to family and friends with God’s Word and through a Godly lifestyle. Last month, many activities were held; we conducted two outreaches that reached 11 schools and 4,706 students. 2,916 students pledged their lives to Christ and to abstain until a faithful marriage. So far 163,923 students in Uganda have signed this True Love Waits pledge. Still in this month, UCE Executive Director, Andrew Dernovsek visited Uganda and formally launched the UCE Clubs Sports Program, which has already been a great success in building good character, teamwork, and life skills among the youth.

Mr. Kisembo Doviko, the Headteacher of Mubuku Valley Secondary School, Kasese shared, “It was through Universal Chastity Education outreaches that our school reduced teenage pregnancies from 25 in 2009/2010 to 7 girls in 2011, then 3 in 2012. Our students have learned the dangers of sex before marriage and the importance of abstinence.”

The UCE Sports Clubs will build upon this great success by reinforcing the UCE message, and by giving young people a positive life-giving environment to spend their time in after school. We are grateful to the partners of UCE for their financial and prayer support. Now is a crucial time for our youth to be reached with the life saving message of chastity. Pray that the youth will be rooted in their faith. Pray that they have hearts open to love the Lord with all that they are, and pray that they would learn to love truth. We are honored to reach them, and are blessed and humbled by the opportunity to serve them faithfully, even through games and sports.
